“TAG QUESTION”

Tag question คือคำถามที่เติมไปที่ท้ายประโยค เมื่อเราต้องการให้อีกฝ่ายหนึ่งเห็นด้วยกับเราหรือเราไม่แน่ใจในเรื่องที่พูด

โครงสร้าง:

                              Subject + vแท้/vช่วย + Object + vช่วย +Pronoun

วิธีใช้

1. ประโยคบอกเล่า ประโยคบอกเล่าจะตามด้วย tag question ที่เป็นปฏิเสธและpronoun

               1.1 verb ธรรมดา ให้ใช้ do, does

                                           Example: We go to school , don't we?

                                                             He plays the guitar, doesn't he?

               1.2 modal verb หรือ verb ช่วย ให้ใช้ verb เหล่านั้นได้เลย

                                           Example : He can swim , can't he?

                                                              The postman is very tall , isn't he?

                1.3 ถ้าประธานเป็น This/That ให้เปลี่ยนเป็น it

                                            Example : This is your pencil, isn't it ?

                1.4 ถ้าประธานเป็น These/Those ให้เปลี่ยนเป็น they

                                            Example: These are her books, aren't they?

                1.5 ถ้าประธานเป็น There ในประโยคก็ยังคงใช้ there

                                            Example: There is a meeting today, isn't there?

                1.6 ถ้าเป็นประโยค 2 ประโยค ให้ดูที่ main clause

                                           Example: Your parents know you're here, don't they?

                                                            *Your parents know = main clause*

                 1.7 ถ้าประธานเป็น You and I ในประโยคแทนด้วย we

Example: You and I are friends, aren't we?

1.8 ถ้าประธานเป็น I ในส่วน tag question จะใช้ are

Example: I am old enough to take care of myself, aren't I?

1.9 ประโยคที่มี A few, A little เป็นประโยคบอกเล่า ดังนั้นในส่วน tag question จะเป็นปฏิเสธ

Example: A little progress has been made, hasn't it?

2. ประโยคปฏิเสธ ประโยคปฏิเสธจะตามด้วย tag question ที่เป็นประโยคบอกเล่าและpronoun หลักการใช้เช่นเดียวกับ

ประโยคบอกเล่า แต่มีข้อควรสังเกตดังนี้

2.1 ประโยคที่มี never, hardly, scarcely, rarely, seldom เป็นประโยคปฏิเสธ ดังนั้น tag question จะเป็นบอกเล่า

Example: The Browns seldom eat out, do they?

2.2 ประโยคที่มี Few, Little เป็นประโยคปฏิเสธ ดังนั้น tag question จะเป็นบอกเล่า

Example: Few people knew the answer, did they?

2.3 ในกรณีที่เป็น Let's tag question ใช้ shall we ไม่ว่าจะเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธหรือบอกเล่า

Example: Let's have a game of tennis, shall we?

Let's not wait any longer, shall we?

*เพิ่มเติม*

1. ถ้าประธานเป็น Everything, Nothing ส่วน pronoun ของ tag question จะใช้ it

Example: Everything is all right, isn't it?

2. ถ้าประธานเป็น Everyone, Everybody, Anyone, Nobody ส่วน pronoun ของ tag question จะใช้ they

Example: Anyone knows the answer, don't they?

3. ถ้าประธานเป็น That หรือ This ส่วน pronoun ของ tag question จะใช้ it

Example: That's a good pen, isn't it?

4. ถ้าประธานเป็น Those หรือ These ส่วน pronoun ของ tag question จะใช้ they

Example: These are not good, are they?

5. เมื่อ clause หน้า มี I หรือ We เป็นประธาน และตามด้วย verb ต่อไปนี้

think, believe, hope, suppose, expect, bet, to be sure, to be afraid กริยาช่วยในส่วน tag question จะสอดคล้องกับ clause หลัง

Example: I'm sure it's marvelous, isn't it?

*ในประโยคมีกริยา คือ sure ดังนั้นยึด tag question ตาม clause หลัง

I'm sure = clause หน้า it's marvelous = clause หลัง
